Author Tori Murphy was born and raised in South Orange, New Jersey. She attended Elon University where she attained a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education. Tori is currently in graduate school at Teachers College, studying to get her Master’s in Sociology and Education. She is a preschool teacher in New York City who cares deeply about culturally responsive teaching. Tori has always loved children’s books and thoroughly enjoyed creating one with her grandma!
Author Theodora Smiley Lacey was born in Montgomery, Alabama. A pioneer in the civil rights struggle, she worked closely with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during the Montgomery Bus Boycott. She is a retired science teacher of Teaneck Public Schools, which she was instrumental in desegregating. She is a mother to 4, a grandmother to 10, and a great grandmother to 11. She is an avid reader and was thrilled to write this book with her granddaughter!
